Bucket list ideas from another blogger

I’ve recently found out that ‘bucket list’ comes from the phrase ‘to kick the bucket’, or in other words, things to do before you die. Makes sense. Traditionally, this makes bucket lists full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Some say this makes them almost ‘competition lists’, or a race for who can tick off the most amazing life experiences in the shortest amount of time. It’s a bit like the “gap-yah” attitude of our generation. I mean, did you even go to Thailand if you don’t have an elephant selfie?

But, there are definitely things I want to see and do in life. Since leaving University, time has really flown and I’ve decided to start my own list. I’ve written about our millennial mindset, always looking forward, and forgetting about the present. So, in this sense, creating a bucket list feels like I’m going against my own pledge to try and live for the moment. But, I’ve consoled myself by promising that my bucket list will be different. Sure, it will be full of exciting travel adventures, but it will also include smaller things I want to achieve which don’t have to be miles into the future. What fun is a bucket list if it’s all years away?
